center-right imperialism?
The problems we have, be it poverty, economic collapse, health care, military over-expenditure or just generally not having enough cable access for poor folk are numerous and varying. Congress has forfeited as many responsibility as possible to the President but not all. So where does that leave us?
We will not be able to parasitically grow in a world already beyond its limits. Our economic model is cancerous based on a theory born when resources were “limitless”. We’re waging two wars with a small percentage of our nation while real wealth falls into the hands of the richest one percent. Incidentally and obviously, those percents almost never overlap.
We, nationally and individually, have been in the red for decades. Credit! Under the guise of current crisis, we’re going to bail out an industry that’s been flailing for probably fifteen years under mismanagement. We just had to bail out “too big to fail” banks because they started lending to unreliable idiots.
These are symptoms of a failing empire, not a strong, leading nation.
We’re not an empire, most of you say. We have checks and balances and what not. We’re a democracy and that’s why we’re stronger than Communism, Islamo-Fascists, Africans and southerners. I don’t agree. I think we’re failing because of those imaginary checks and balances.
Many think the election of Obama will finally set us on course. They believe his affinity for change will shift our direction and fix our issues. There’s a momentum against the ideology of the last eight years that many think he’ll turn into monumental, progressive policies.
Considering our devotion to the President-Elect and our supreme idiocy, there’s no better time for imperialism.
I know what you’re going to say I have no idea what you’re going to say; don’t even really care ’cause ya’lls don’t comment but really, it’s not all bad. Most of our history as a species has involved imperialism in some form or another.
It sort of has a nice ring to it actually. We’ve already given Him the ability to surveil us unhindered, label enemy combatants at will and He can even declare “war” definition may vary; ask your congressperson. We’ve already elected a symbolic and impotent Congress. We’re all set folks.
So, if you want real change, join me in welcoming… Emperor-Elect, Barack H. Obama.
