leader of the free world*

Thursday, July 27th, 2006

so our president has a lot of issues. sort of feel for the guy. sort of how you feel for the dumb kid who keeps burning himself on the red stove. sure he’s an idiot for repeatedly doing it, but you know it hurts.

what i don’t understand is how he can continue to make such a gigantic ass out of himself. even a nobody like angelina jolie pulled in the reins a bit when everyone thought she was batshit crazy. apparently the administration isn’t interested in damage control as their supporting party falls apart at every seam.

the guy makes the US look like the short bus of the world: at the G8 (eating with mouth full making off-handed comments of things he obviously had no clue about followed up with the “shit heard ’round the world” and then works in an obviously inappropriate shoulder rub to pretty much cover all bases), in iraq (having been forced to go back on all reasons for entering the war and having no plan as to how to end it), and now the I-L crisis (ignoring it for too long and then ignoring israel’s slaughtering of civilians and taking out a UN post to condemn iran’s involvement).

*free meaning an american approved form of rule. but free is pretty fucking expensive.

when peace gets pissed

… found this article and thought i’d share. pay close attention to the last 3 statements. if only the major media wasnt too busy forgetting about the iraq war, domestic policies, and our socially-handicapped president so they can spend all their time on the new “war”* in lebanon we could see things from a global perspective.

* in quotes because in the interests of political positioning there is no concensus that the escalated conflict is above the standards attributed to a definition of war. even when “open war” was declared within 3 days.

average appreciation

a show on TLC made me think of how no matter how shitty my life ends up–depressed, lonely, fat, or even hated–it’s cause i made the choices to end up that way. i may end up in the emergency room here and there, but at average height, average weight, and average intelligence i have nothing stacked against me.

average is uninteresting, beige, and sometimes boring, but average is easy.

WTF?!? 07.14.06

… i just saw william rhoden on with glenn beck equating football players “earning” 40 mill per year to slaves. am i wrong in thinking this comparison is not only unfair, but completely without base?

spurs the question: can an entire country go to hell by association?

holy balls

so i’m not all that religious. was confirmed christian at 16 and havent been back. i believe the distaste is mutual between the Man upstairs and myself so i’m chill with it. yet, i’m still fascinated by the blind faith of some and disgusting misuse of power by others that overwhelm the church itself.

this article illustrates growing issues in this nation. it’s only a commentary on “kingdom coming”, but this paragraph…

their Jesus is a muscular militarist who hates gays, is the first to see and condemn sin in others, and finds salvation not in poverty and charity but in building multi-million-dollar ministries, living high, and preaching that all problems are solved, all sins redeemed, all diseases cured (both physical and political) by simple belief in His name. This Jesus hates science, wants to use the power of the state to finance his ventures and punish his enemies, and wants to use the power of police, prisons, and courts to enforce his rigid view of everything from the role of women in society to the sanctity of the American flag.

… stood out. looks like it’s not just politicians and executives that ignore the very structure on which they gained their power.
