so i’m sitting around and i like it. but you spent 2 months sittin on your ass so why’s this different? you ask… because i spent the last 2 weeks with things to do and now i’m down to very little. it’s a much better feeling…

the Daily’s Drink & Dine page is nearing completion. i have about 3 more icons to make and then Luke (the online guy) will be finishing up the coding to go live hopefully the 20th. real close. i have my new phone [view bitching below] and i’m now looking at places to move to by may 1st. anyone know of a place hit me up. [sidenote: if you know any idiots who want a place over summer so they don't have to go back to ma and pops drop a line too.] as of now there’s a pretty swank place in NE and maybe some other possibles for a little less cost. i also worked in a little trip back home at the end of april to get things set up and squared away. … meaning probably bring a load of junk back so i don’t have to move it.

so now i’m relaxing… or at least for today since i’ve been warned this weekend is busy for moves. spent 4 hrs in traffic on tuesday for almost no good reason. well i guess the reason was to replace my phone that dropped calls with one that had no issues. except the cingular stores gave me the runaround and it happened to be rush hour. also on tuesday learned more about menarche than i wanted to. monday was a complete wash partly because of snow and partly because of morons. also a shitty day for driving, but at least made it for some perkins w/ rayray. saturday was a pretty mint night and then props to covi for workin the egg mcmuffin style sammiches for folk in the morning. very housewife-esque.

so in a week that i have friends in CO and Vegas i’m developing an intense hatred for snow and trying to think of where i want to spend my nights for the next year. i miss spring break.

oh… and in a related story: giada de laurentiis is the hottest of the food network ladies. she’s got that big mouth, but i can look past it w/ the grub she cooks up.

film – I love to hate thee »

so movies are getting to be ridiculous. Not the actual films [who can pass up such classics as house of wax and big mamma's house II] which are getting less and less interesting, but the institutions that create and distribute them. Hollywood used to produce upwards of 150 movies a year (sometimes MUCH more) … they are now producing under 60 (sometimes much less). This wouldn’t be a bad thing… if they were movies worth watching. Instead they wait till a filmmaker who pays for a whole fuckin short [or sometimes feature length] so they can view at their leisure at any film festival they choose. Then they can pick it up, buy it, distribute it, and make all the money they like off it w/out putting any effort into the process.

easy way out? Yes. But it’s an effective business model and it’s kept them from bankruptcy this long. But how do they have the right to bitch about copyright infringement? It’s not the director or producer of the movie that bitches because in most cases they want their work to be seen no matter how it is. Eventually people will profit off this approach. The people bitching the most are the studios that just bought the flick for cheap and are inflating any price they can.

__ [response to that lame ass PSA at the beginning of DVDs now, showcasing petty theft and comparing it to illegal downloads]___

they say that they are losing business [and no shit. Grosses are way down and films are tanking cause no one's going to see them] because people are downloading and burning all their hard-bought product. NO ASSHOLES. STOP. YOU’RE MORONS. Take a sec to move your jaguar from the firezone and think about things.

is it really the 10% of folk that are dropping your profits so consistently every year? Is it those people that have access to burning software, compression software, download software, codecs, patience, and the skills to make all of them work? Is it because these people have malice toward the film industry and are looking to destroy it from the bottom up?

or… is it the fact that you have cut production. Or because half of the movies created and distributed by you are remakes or sequels of movies no one gave a shit about in the first place [again house of wax and BMH II come to mind]. Or because you have the “unrated” version on DVD within 4 months anyway. Or maybe it’s just cause more people want to pay attention to Lohan’s latest car crash or Paris’ latest fuck session instead of going to the theater to see any of your flicks.

SHUT THE FUCK UP OR MAKE DECENT MOVIES. I have downloads to start and a couple flicks to burn on my roommate’s computer so I’m too busy to listen to you bitch.
